Winter holiday in Alberschwende in the Bregenzerwald

Let yourself be taken away in a breathtaking winter landscape with clear mountain air, unique mountain panorama, numerous ski resorts, cross-country trails and winter hiking trails throughout the region, past snow-capped meadows, on sunny high plateaus, through white winter forests.

Skiing

Alberschwende offers a small ski area for beginners and familieswith a tow lift and a plate lift at the foot of the Brüggelekopf.

94 lifts and cable cars in the entire Bregenzerwald open up 259 km of groomed slopes. From Alberschwende you can take the ski bus (in front of the hotel) between twenty minutes and an hour to the numerous ski resorts of the region, such as the ski area Mellau-Damüls, Diedamskopf-Schoppernau, Warth, Hochhädrich-Hittisau.

Since the winter of 2015/16, the new Mellaubahn with a capacity of 3000 people per hour has been in operation. The new track guarantees a quick start to the ski area Mellau-Damüls. In the morning there are two direct bus connections from the 3* Hotel Engel in Alberschwende to the valley station of the Mellau cable cars and in the late afternoon a direct bus back. Otherwise, there are hourly connections with change overin Bezau.

Since the winter of 2013/14 there is a new ski connection between the Bregenzerwald and the ski resort Ski Arlberg. Starting point is the ski area Warth.

Cross-country skiing & winter hiking

In Alberschwende there are a total of 18 km of trails with different lengths and degrees of difficulty as well as numerous groomed hiking trails.

The Bregenzerwald region offers 300 kilometres of cross-country trails and 140 km of groomed and signposted hiking trails.

Snowshoeing is also possible in the Bregenzerwald if the snow conditions are appropriate.
